Two Ways to Organize:
Decentralized: Each part of the factory has its own maintenance team. This is good for big factories in different places.
Centralized: One big maintenance team works for the whole factory. This is good for small factories in one place.
Types of Maintenance
Unplanned Maintenance (Breakdown Maintenance): You only fix the machine when it breaks. It is cheap at first, but it can stop work and cost a lot of money later.
Planned Maintenance: You plan to fix the machine before it breaks. It helps to keep machines running.
Preventive Maintenance: You check and fix machines on a regular schedule to stop problems.
Corrective Maintenance: You fix a machine after it has a problem.
Scheduled Maintenance: You fix machines on a set schedule. It is planned with the production team.
Watching Machines (Condition Monitoring)
You can watch machines to see if they are okay. This is called condition monitoring. You can:
Look, hear, and feel the machine.
Use special tools to check the machine.
Check the oil of the machine.

To plan maintenance, you should:
List all your machines.
Say what jobs you need to do.
Decide how often you will do the jobs.
Make a plan and get the things you need.
